River Revelations:

Deep Calls unto Deep

“Lord, I cry out to You out of the depths of my despair.”  Psalm 130:1 TPT

Right now, as never before there seems to be a dark aura hanging over our nation, brooding over our government, and a specter of death over our churches.  We are in a deep dark place right now, and only the Holy Spirit can guide and direct us our of this morass. We’ve turned to man’s plans, and government policies to bring us up and out of the darkness, but they are of no affect, only the Lord can guide us to a place of revelation and restoration.

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of living in the shallow end of the pool.  What I mean is I want to wade deeper into the River of God.  I want to understand His word in a deeper way; I want to feel His presence as I enter into deeper worship.  We’ve all been living too close to the top of the water, floating along carried by the currents, it’s time to take the plunge and dive into the depths of His Kingdom, and learn of Him.

Sometimes, we must be brought into deep distress before we can be brought into the deeper things of God.  In the depths of trials and testing we may feel like Jonah being thrown overboard into waterspouts of misery, fear and hopelessness.  We feel all disoriented, head over heels in deep deep water, but God needs to stir us and churn us in the depth of His ocean of love, to bring us to consecration even if He has to put us in the belly of a fish for a season.

Have you been there?  Have you felt the pressure of God’s hand heavy on your heart, and wondered what was going on?  Why you were feeling so deeply oppressed?  The things of the world will weigh us down, cause us to fear, bring us into darkness, but the Kingdom of God is Light and love, we need to abandon ship and dive into the Living Water of His word.

Nothing much happens on the beach, oh we can build a sand castle or two, but then the waves of evil and destruction come in and our castles all crumble and our dreams turn to ashes.  All we can do is turn start again, and build on a sure foundation, the foundation of the Cross.  To get back to the deep sacrifice that Christ made on the Cross and begin the see our life in that Light, and not in the light of this world or Hollywood, which is all smoke and mirrors, no truth shallowness and phoniness.

We are caught up in the worldly things, and that brings us into a deep pit of striving for that which we can never have, while letting go of that which we can never lose.  The Passion translation of the word puts it like this:

Psalm 42:7 “The deep chaos of my need calls out to the deep kindness of Your love.”

Let us begin to call out from the depths of our soul to the heart of God.  Show us O Lord the way to the paths of holiness and righteousness.  Let us see Your face, let us feel Your peace. God sees and knows all things, He is always willing to reach down into the dark places of our nation, into the deep chaos of our world and bring us into the deep living water of His Son.

Isaiah 9:2 The people who have walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.
