River Revelations:

“The Holy Spirit gives liberty to the Christian, direction to the worker, discernment to the teacher, power to the Word and fruit to faithful service.  He revels the things of Christ”.   Billy Graham

Has Holy Spirit left our world?  It seems like the whole world is in turmoil, and our moral compass is broken.  The Holy Spirit is such a wonderful guide and help.  We cannot function as believers without His strength. Without His guidance we will never move on to the deeper things God has for us.

The Church seems to have forgotten about the gifts of the Spirit, it’s almost like we are embarrassed by them. These are good gifts that are given for instruction and knowledge so that we will be able to discern the Holy and the profane.  It is so important in these evil times to be able to know who is a friend of God, and who is an enemy of God.  Believe me evil forces are at work in every area of life right now.  Satan’s plan of attack is on our children, our marriages, our homes, and economy.  All the things we believe are being challenged, mocked and laughed at.

God never changes, His word is set in stone, we can rely upon the things He says. Our prayers are being hindered because of our unbelief; we doubt that God can do what He said He could do. This is one reason the Israelites spent so many years in the desert, they failed to trust in God alone and were forced to go around and around until one day Moses said “we’ve stayed on this mountain too long”—and finally followed the direction of the Lord.

The Feast of Pentecost was first celebrated in that desert time. It’s where the Law was given, the Ten Commandments for living.  Moses was entrusted with the tablets that God wrote on.  Wow, think of that the honor of carrying in your hands something so sacred.  The Law was given for man to live at peace with each other.  However, a set of rules and regulations never seem to be enough, people take advantage, and look for ways around following such rules.

Generations later on the Day of Pentecost to about one hundred and twenty people in an Upper Room. The Lord poured out the Holy Spirit on everyone there. There was a sound of a mighty rushing wind, cloven tongues of fire appeared, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other Tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.  Hallelujah, the Church was born (of the Spirit); they were given power to be witnesses of what Jesus came to do.  These people changed the world, by the Holy Spirit’s power and guidance.

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty.

The Law could not bring people the freedom from sin, but the Spirit brings freedom to not sin.  In other words, we follow the “Law” because we love the Giver of the Law. We are free to accept the guidance of the Spirit and it becomes a pleasure to do what is right, not a duty to follow the rules because we have to.

Let us keep celebrating the Feast of Pentecost in our heart, loving the liberty, knowing the peace it brings.  Keep seeking the guidance and teaching of Holy Spirit look for ways to please God.  Yield our hearts and minds to His will for our life, and seek that Upper Room experience daily with a new refreshing of the Spirit.

Pour out upon us Lord—one more time!

John 14:26 The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
