Simone Is U.S.
Let’s face it. Simone Biles is a byproduct of American society. Something was missing when she needed it the most. Did she quit? Yes, but why? Where was the mental and emotional strength, known as fortitude, during her difficulty, adversity, and even danger? Where was the underlying courage needed to overcome pressures, whether self-imposed or outwardly enclosed or both? Where was that good old determination that doesn’t give up the ship no matter how much water she’s taking in?
Can we look in the mirror and see ourselves? Oh, we’d like to blame her and shame her, based upon expectations from another day, as we continue to hold onto a false reality of our stability. America is weak. Our military is weak. Our government is weak. Our morals are weak. The church is weak. We are collapsing under the pressure of forces unseen, sent to undermine long standing foundations, causing us to stumble and fall. Our empty and vain philosophies are not enough to hold together the fraying fabric of our existence as a land. As the pressure increases, we will be found wanting for courage on all fronts.
The pressure is real. Simone felt it. Could she have been better prepared to handle it? It’s easy to criticize; looking through wishful eyes where heroes lie in the day gone by. We better cry! Lord, open our eyes to beguiling spirits that promise gold; only to fold in the end. Come and put within our barren hearts; substance to strengthen our stance. How can we dance or vault or somersault with chaos in our head? How can we push through with confusion our view?
Simone is done. America is not. God has a plan to restore this land. But we must know our true condition. We must listen to God’s Word, combating the absurd from our solid foundation; rebuilding our nation. Let’s face it! Simone is U.S.
And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
